We made it back from our Key West anniversary vacation. As you can see from the photo, it was beautiful, relaxing, and largely documented using my Nikon SLR. Therefore, there will be a little bit of time required to transfer the photos over to the blog. It will be worth the wait...we had a great time and the Sumset Key island was beautiful...Key West was a lot of fun too. More to come.

Birthday Cake

My wonderful wife made me a wonderful dinner and birthday cake. I am going to need to surf longer this weekend to work off all those yummy calories!!!

Half way there

I am more than half way through my bible study. I started on Jan 1 with a reading plan that takes you through the bible in a year. It has been a lot of fun and pretty tough to stay on track. I am still blogging the reading plan. My commentaries have been few and far in between, buy I will try harder. There is a link on the left for the blog: john14six.com.

Earth Day

In honor of earth day and giving my first born to the oil companies, I thought I would try some of the tips to get better fuel efficiency.  I am driving slower and less aggressively and using cruise control every opportunity I can.  I have left for work a little earlier and have had less traffic.  It is usually not an issue at night coming home.  In the end, I have gotten an extra 2 miles / gallon.  When you drive a non-aerodynamic vehicle like my Jeep, going from 15.7 miles / gallon to 18.1 miles/gallon...it is a huge savings for mother earth and my pocketbook.

New Years Resolutions

Happy new year to everyone. 2008 promises to bring exciting times...being married to Amanda guarantees that!!! I have decided to lose weight, eat better, work harder, and be a better husband. I think we all start the year hoping to do just that...be a better person, work hard and live life to the fullest. Over the past year, I have done a daily bible study on the beach before work (yes, it is a rough life here in SD). One thing I have found is that starting your day with God's word makes the day go by a little easier. To this end, I am doing something I have always wanted to do: read the bible cover to cover. I am going to blog my daily readings and invite anyone to follow along. http://john14six.com

New Photos Added

We are back from all of our travels and slowly getting back into the swing of things. We were in Chicago for my graduation, and then went on an Alaskan cruise.  More to come on that later.  I did post the graduation photos. The first couple are of the graduates entering the tent, then of my mentor "hooding" me, and then the exit and celebration.  It is hard to believe that 6+ years went by so quickly, when at times it felt as if time was standing still.  Thank you to all who have supported me along the way.  A special thanks to my loving wife Amanda, who was there from the very beginning.

New Photos

I have finally taken pictures of our new home. I am sorry it has taken so long and that I have not posted in a while. I am going to try to post more often. Check out the new photos in the New Home album. Amanda picked out the colors and I did the painting during the holidays. It is still a work in progress, but much of the heavy lifting is done.
